In the 'Qin Ce' chapter, it describes the itinerant diplomat Su Qin, who after failing in the state of Qin, traveled to Zhao and was received by King Su of Zhao beneath the rafters of a magnificent hall. There they struck their palms together and talked with such enthusiasm that the king was won over by Su Qin's eloquence. This single conversation launched Su Qin's celebrated career as the organizer of the vertical alliance uniting six states against Qin.
