📜 Origin Story
During the Sui Dynasty, Dou Yi, father of a talented daughter, painted two peacocks on a door screen and promised her hand to any suitor who could shoot both peacocks in the eyes with two arrows. Dozens of young nobles tried and failed. Li Yuan, who later became Emperor Gaozu of the Tang Dynasty, arrived and hit each peacock in one eye with his two arrows. Delighted, Dou Yi gave his daughter to Li Yuan in marriage, and she became Empress Dou of the Tang Dynasty.
